I can now that it's been explained to me, but it's certainly very confusing. The switching of the colors is the most confusing thing; that's purely a computer artifact, because for example if you took photos from a chouette, then the colors would not change even if you flipped the board around. Note also that if it were a physical board then if Player 1 were bearing off on the left then Player 2 would be bearing off on the right. So you've switched colors and switched from clockwise movement to counterclockwise; another computer artifact.
The other thing that causes confusion is that there are only two checkers on each side so it's not immediately obvious which side is which from a casual glance. In contrast, for example, if one side had closed out the opponent's last two checkers then it would be obvious which side was which even if you changed colors and flipped the board.
For something like this, I would keep the colors the same and just alternate between having the near-side player being on roll and the far-side player being on roll.
