Stick brought up the topic of ads back in 2009. For a short period of time, there was a Zontik Games ad on every forums page. The ad was pretty unobtrusive as ads go, and I don't think people minded it.

But BGO has so little traffic now that I doubt that many advertisers would be interested. Stick could try Patreon, but my guess is that he'll find that to be more trouble than it's worth. Patreon is good if you expect a substantial number of long-term subscribers, but that's a bit optimistic at this stage.

There is one thing you could do that might help, which is to generate content here on BGO by posting. Content drives traffic, and once there is enough traffic, there are various ways to monetize it. I recall that you used to post "DQ" positions, which I thought were very good. You could try making DQ posts here on a regular basis. At first, you might not get too many responses, but I think that if you're persistent, interest will grow over time.
