The full analysis would also have to acknowledge that if White hits immediately after Blue’s 2/1*, 2/Off, then she will also have chances, unlikely that they may be, of picking up 2, 3 and even 4 additional checkers down the road. The best White can ever do after 3/1*, 2/1, is to pick up just one additional checker.

And it would not surprise me if I overlooked something else here as well.

Kudos for this deceptively tricky problem, Stick.
