Stick: The issue I had at the time, and I figured why not bring it up again, is that there's no real motivation to do so. That's the biggest sticking point. Perhaps it's a me only thing but at this point the last thing I'd want to do is grind out all the work, and it is a lot of work, to whittle down from whatever reasonably low PR one is all the way to a 2. There's no money in it. It will hardly improve your winning chances in games/matches and your time could certainly be spent, for lack of a better word, better.

I want to push back on one part of it, that there is no money in it. There's a market for backgammon lessons out there. The cache in having a SGM title is worth something in how much one can charge. Is it *worth* it? It might actually be worth it.

If you're just talking about what you can win in a tournaments or chouettes or cash games, then yes... the edge you gain by slicing your PR from 3 to 2 is the exact same gain as going from 13 to 12... and that edge isn't really THAT much.

With a couple of pithy comments, I could get just about anybody from 13 to 12 in a heartbeat. 3 to 2? A life's work.

Finally, the point that's already been brought up... not everybody is motivated by money. I'm trying to improve my game and have a goal in mind, and that goal has jack squat to do with the money I might gain.
