Personally I don't think I could charge more for backgammon lessons if I were to become a SGM. I also don't think that Mochy or Dirk would need it on their resumé to charge pretty much whatever they felt like. By the time someone becomes a SGM it is so likely they're well known and well respected that whatever they want to charge they'll charge and a SGM badge on their belt wouldn't change that. For example, if Wilcox or Sander or Gus etc...suddenly decided to go BMAB wild and chase the SGM and got it, would someone pay them more because they have that title? I can't imagine it.

In the highly unlikely scenario that someone comes out of left field and is unknown and all of a sudden BAM! like Batman plays like a super human then sure, having that title to somewhat legitimize them would be helpful.

And I totally agree and it's obvious that not everyone needs money as the incentive for improving to that degree. (though that's very different than what you said which is that 'not everybody is motivated by money' which I find untrue for the most part) People get on kicks for all kinds of reasons and that's mainly why a couple people are edging in closer and closer to 'the impossible' 2PR.
