Not necessarily, a 4 through 8 prime would be just fine here, but it is quite important to avoid holes in the prime for containment. If Sax enters on the 5, then the made 4 point are two checkers that cannot hit him. To make matters worse, 8/4(2) takes away builders that can aim both at 7 and 5 points, and leave one less place for the stack on 6. It is these checkers that want to go to the 4 point.

I'd guess that if there were two 2's to play, then making the 4 point would be OK, even with the hole.
