Very interesting position.

Hard to believe 8/5(2) isn't half the play. But then there are some options:

13/7* -- leaves a lot of returns (15 on our side and several more on Stick's side).

24/21, 9/6 -- excellent defense but stacky offense.

6/3(2) -- great use of checkers but lots of returnskis on both sides of the board. Still, we grab the better homeboard so many of Stick's hits are into a painful stinger.

Given the alternatives I don't think six checkers on the 6-point (and two on the 8-point) is the proper approach. So down to the two blotty plays.

Hitting on the barpoint keeps Stick from making it next turn. His sixes might be as good as his twos (probably not, but still very good).

As pretty as 3(2) looks, I think we have to make it hard for Stick to neutralize the game by making our barpoint. Don't want to misquote Marty but he constantly talks about not underestimating the value of tactical play.
