An even stronger question

A player that makes an illegal move sometimes makes the move and picks up the dice so fast that the referee might still be contemplating it when the dice are raised.

Not news to you, but another excellent result of clocked matches is the unlikelihood (and a rules violation) of this since it is the opponent of the mover who picks up the dice.

While we're on the subject (this thread and the other older one), this thing about dice being accidentally flipped over (as apparently happened in last year's final) shouldn't happen, either. There is an attitude among some that "formal attire" is appropriate for BG. IMO, short sleeves (i.e. no jacket) should be a requirement, particularly in these important matches. It would be like the Wimbledon Championships being conducted with tennis attire of the early part of the 20th Century. (Actually it's worse than that.)
