Not understanding the differences in all those categories. For example, don’t the extra gammons come from the better position and threats?
Yes, there is overlap, but not always. For example, a position can have both strong structure (position) and threats but not be gammonish. A position can have poor flexibility but little wastage (low points made in the homeboard), or both.
These PRaT and modifications like mine are clearly non-rigorous, i.e. qualitative but non-quantitative. They tend to treat all variables equally which even naively doesn't hold up. I see them as guidelines to be used with other algorithms to get a clearer picture of the correct cube action.
