I have a bunch of handwritten data on 7-point matches where I used both analog and digital clocks (and rules) simultaneously

I tracked some similar data in the San Diego club for about six months. A limited set of data seemed to indicate that clocked play did not average faster, but cut down considerably on the interminable matches. I'd say it effectively sped up the slow players and slowed down the fast players. Lower variance but not lower average in time to complete the matches, I'd say.
