Somebody wrote a book about these kinds of positions. Maybe he'll even give us more than just a rollout result, for a change.

White's Take with such a pretty HB, some timing, some racing chances, some future hitting chances seems right to me. Are there enough market losers for Blue to recube? Let's look for Blue's best rolls, noting that even with some of these White can often get shots later:

{66,55,44,33,22,54} are pretty good. {21,24,25,14,15} also clear the 10-pt but don't leave the best distribution. A few rolls tread water (keeping the outfield). 65 gives up the 8-pt.

Another thing (in White's favor) is that Blue's pipcount lead is seldom as much of a racing lead as otherwise, with no checkers on the 4-pt for the bearoff and quite a few series of rolls that put checkers deep.

I'm going to wait.
