I don't understand why such a fuss over a $40 clock that is a one-time expenditure and is only a small fraction of the cost of attending even a single tournament event, not to mention a small fraction of the cost of the board, dice and cups for most tournament players. A tournament chess player would be expected to bring their own clock to even the tiniest local event, why can't the same just be expected from tournament backgammon players?
