Jason's and Bob's reactions matched mine when I first saw this announcement, and I don't have any answers, not yet anyway.

Although a stronger engine would be nice, features are where significant improvements can be made, IMO. For those to come into fruition, a deep knowledge of tournament backgammon is essential.
