Pre-roll eval: White is racing (and has a 3 pip lead). She's made no new points anywhere, has only one back checker, and heavy 6- and 13-pts. Meanwhile Blue has made his 5-pt, still has a spare on the 8-pt (now 9 ckrs in the zone), has split the back checkers with one midpt checker in White's outfield, exerting some control over both outfields.
This excellent 44 roll now gives Blue a (temporary) 3-pt race lead. The only play I see to come down to two blots is 22/6, but that leaves a direct shot on the 15-pt while not adding any new pts. So we're leaving 3 (or more) blots. Let's look at some candidates:
13/9(3), 15/11 -- loads the zone while adding a 4th of five blocking pts. The two back checkers are more/less stranded.
22/10, 15/11 -- brings excellent building ammo into Blue's outfield, leaving only 5 shots for White there. 55 roll is the only risk for the remaining back checker.
22/18, 15/11, 13/5 -- gives best coverage of all boards and leaves only 64 to hit in Blue's outfield. This is a provocative play that may not be necessary given that Blue now has the race lead. If I were required to leave a direct then this would likely be my play, although...
8/4(2), 15/11, 22/18 -- (leaving a 4th blot) is a consideration under this (unenforceable) constraint of leaving a direct shot.
15/11, 8/4(3) -- in common with the previous play, the 4-pt is an improvement over the 8-pt but the dilly builder isn't ideal.
Hitting loose on the acept (in particular) or making the 2-pt don't look right with so many more constructive options.
IMO, the race lead swings this from putting too much emphasis on leaving provocative blots to getting builders in place, with backup to rehit in the event White rolls one of her hitting numbers.
22/10, 15/11.
