Yes, there are available gammon wins for Blue, but even a sequence like 31+fan still leaves Blue quite a bit of work to win this game. (61+fan would be better...)

As far as matchscore considerations, Blue is hurting with a 4-pt loss, but then so would be the flipside if White turns this around. As such the takept for White on a 4-cube is higher than 'normal', giving White extra incentive to snap up a 2-cube.
