Here I think the 8-pt is the worst place to hold spares. If you try the "slot the back of the 5-prime, leaving a direct shot" ploy vs. a backgame, where is your 3? I don't think White is remotely tempted to play 22/16* in those cases unless the roll is a timing crusher 66, but does Blue really want to make the 9-pt here??

How bad is 11/10, 8/5? I'll try it and find out.
