Every play that makes sense to me steps up 24/22. The two finishers appear to be 12/8 and 13/9*. Let's look more closely:
12/8 doesn't improve White's timing on this roll. However, that may not be so easy to pull of on the next roll as White will likely still leave checkers spread out. A spare on the 8-pt looks awkward to me.
13/9* may buy time to make the 22-pt although White isn't in a great position to attack there. As just mentioned, this play hurts Blue's timing. A second negative has to do with the value of owning the 13-pt in backgames. (Woolsey mentioned this years ago.) Think of it as timing potential energy. Those checkers usually aren't better off back in opp's homeboard and you're opening yourself up to getting them sent back by giving it up.
I'm going with what may prove to be the nearsighted play.
