The two obvious candidates are 13/8, 13/9 and 8/3, 5/1.

How valuable is keeping the midpoint? There might be some immediate White rolls which she'd like to leave one checker on the 13-pt which 8,9 allows. Blue also has some small rolls next turn which make keeping the midpoint for even one more cycle an asset.

The downside for 8/3, 5/1 is the obvious 61 roll next turn when White keeps her midpoint. Other aces are playable in the HB and trying to keep the best distribution for racing doesn't seem a major priority this roll since White's blocking structure likely leads to some upcoming wastage anyway.

I'm building the HB and keeping the middie.

8/3, 5/1.
