New World Backgammon Championship

In Response To: New World Backgammon Championship (Stick)

There have been quite a few international tournaments over the last 20 years in Costa Rica. I don't recall how well they've done attendance-wise but you could look it up. (I guess we can conclude it wasn't fantastic attendance or there wouldn't be a discontinuity in schedule.)

So, does the word 'New' modify only World or the entire phrase, or is it a play on words, hinting at both?
