Searching For BF there were some gambling taking place in central park with blitz chess.

Was it Central Park in the movie? In real life (and in the book) it was Washington Square Park, at the foot of Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village, at the chess tables in the southwest corner. There was chess for money and backgammon for money. Bridge for money and sometimes rummy for money, under the "No Card Playing" sign. Scrabble for money. And nickel bags for money.

A couple of YouTube videos capture part of that scene. Vinnie Livermore (the inspiration for Laurence Fishburne's character in the movie) and Theo talk some trash and play some blitz. In that order. "I will teach you a lesson in humidity!"
