In Response To: automatic restart of computer and rollouts (bob koca)

In the olden days (0.14? 0.15?), if you rolled a position out from the hint button, gnubg would just discard the rollout as soon as it was finished. That was bad. These days (0.15? 0.16/0.90) if you roll something out from the hint button, then go on to the next move, the rollout will still be there in the analysis pane, and you can extend it as normal.

The practice is still discouraged because it's easier to lose your rollouts. It won't protect you against reboots, though. The best you can do is set your computer not to automatically reboot (as per David), short of telling gnubg to automatically save using cygwin scripts.
