I agree that a computer draw is the way to go.
A program to do it would be simple to write. You could put a version on the internet so anybody could try it out if they wanted to.
The actual "draw" would consist of picking, say, six random numbers and entering them into the program. The names of the players would be already have been entered. The program would first sort the names alphabetically, and then shuffle them according to a public algorithm based on the six random numbers.
The procedure is entirely repeatable. Anyone who is diligent enough could verify that the draw is uniquely determined by (1) the names of the entrants and (2) the six random numbers.
The pairings could be announced over a PA system and players could start playing immediately.
