Re: Neil agrees and asks how common are clocks in your British events ?
Ah. I’m ashamed to say very infrequently. But we’re working on it. There’s no doubt that we are behind the US and mainland Europe in this department. In our little islands Bristol Bg Club has introduced / is introducing clocks and we have just started (only just) started doing so here in London. Biba only use them for slow play. As far as I know that’s it. It’s all very embarrassing and I’d rather you hadn’t mentioned it Sir but well, that’s life!
The fact that the majority of our players are not clock savvy is I’m sure costing them wins in tournaments. So action is in hand. Bg in London has adopted US Clock Play Rules but we are introducing them on a gradual basis. If I put clocks on every table straight away I’ll frighten off players and I’m not about to do that. So I’m starting with those that really need to know how to play with them and I’ll let it filter down to as far as is needed.
