Hi folks,

this is my first post here. I am an intermediate from germany who wants to improve his game. This forum seems a great place to do so!

I would (before looking at what other people wrote) play 8/5 here. Blue leaves 14 shots for White, but gets a direct shot after 15 of Whites rolls (if I didn't miscount, lol). Reducing White's hitting chances by advancing the checker on the midpoint will lead to much fewer shots for Blue. Since the gammon danger is not that big, imho Blue can risk leaving the blot on the midpoint and thus maximising winning chances. If Blue did not have the cube, it would of course be a different story.

If Blue manages to hit, he will need his 5 point to win the game, so now seems the time to start it.
