I feel that 4 min +15 for a whole match would be too slow. If you realize that some players would use much of that time, that's 44 minutes of thinking time for an 11 pt match noting that the 4 minutes doesn't tick away til 15 seconds has expired.

However, 2+12 for a 1 pter is too fast. Two factors come into play here. 1) Many players will be in a panic with only 2 minutes left and that gets worse once it ticks down to 1 minute and especially if dice are cocked a couple of times. 2) A one pt match requires no time thinking about the cube, but, unlike many games, it is played to the end as it cannot end via a passed cube. 3+15 or even 4+15 would be good for a 1 pter.

Richard Munitz and I played our midnight match Sun night with the clock 9 pts so 18 min for the match 12 sec/move. We used a clock to make sure we'd finish it quickly so we could go to bed as we both had Masters matches to play Monday and the winner would play Carter in the money round of the conso.

I had really good dice and rolled over Richard 9-2. Of note is that I had 15 min left on my clock and he had 16 left on his. My point is that 2 & 12 is a fine TC. 15 secs instead of 12 does allow for a more less rushed movement and a cocked roll or two. I have no problems with 2 and 15, but honestly prefer the faster WSOB 1.5 + 15, but realize that mant players want more thinking time.

IMHO BG is not meant to be played at chess-like speed. 2.5 + 15 is lots of time, too much for ABT events,IMHO, as so many rounds need to be played and there's side events. For a tourney like MC and other major near week long events where you're playing two long matches per day, 2.5 + 15 is OK as there's ample time. 2.5 + 15 will prevent that rediculous 6 or 7 hour 17 or 19 pt match that can occur.

So for the ABT..2+12 is fine, but if people want 1.5+15 I'd be happy, and honestly if players feel better with 2+15 I'd go for that.
