Your view on TC's is being disturbed by playing with only 2 min time for that 1 pt match. When down to 2 min, we all tend to feel like the sword of Damacles is swinging over our heads but when starting an 11 with 22 min time things are MUCH different.

Granted, but with 2 min, I was playing MUCH faster than my usual pace. Even if I had had another minute or two and change to spare I still would have felt rushed--and I was even still playing faster than Tim was.

Also, although there have been some "clocks optional" events (though Charlotte is the only one I can think of), there haven't been any U.S. mandatory clocked events. The two things are VERY different when it's actually run in an event. I'd prefer to start off with more lenient TCs than to start off with TCs that are too strict. Or, if TCs are going to be strict, run a side event(s) that's mandatorily clocked and let the main event remain unclocked.
