A "new" idea (?)

Double elimination is like what they do in LA now, where you end up with one undefeated player and the survivor of the losers bracket has to beat him twice.
So, you can win when you have one loss... But it is hard. Even if you lose the undefeated finals, you only have 1/16 chance to win, I believe. Lose earlier, and it is a long road to the trophy. Swiss is easier to win, but at the expense of the least defeated player it seems.
I was 5-2, yes, and then I ran into Tim Mabee, and lost. Wisconsin is more of a triple elimination... and it makes it tougher on the average open player. Jon Vietor won a single elimination event in Pittsburgh, it would be tougher for him @ Wisconsin.
The great players love Swiss, but it probably doesn't promote participation as much. Wasn't attendance down in Wisconsin? I go to alot of these ABT events, seems like the double elimination format is most common to me, but I play both LA events and Michigan each year. I foget who else uses it.
