A "new" idea (?)

i kind of like the "swiss qualifier to KO" myself. This gets to the requisite # of players most efficiently. --- play the swiss until you have X# of wins then you get the rest of the night to rest or play other events. I don't like where someone goes 8-0 in the swiss getting thru to the finals/semi-finals. i'd like to see longer matches (clocked) and maybe fewer rounds(?) (depending on field size, of course). OR move to entirely swiss. the # of entries screws up any movement (i'd much rather see 1st round byes to get to the best #) maybe sell the byes and put money in prize pool) i really prefer unclocked play until someone demonstrates an inability to finish a match in a timely fashion. --- and then (esp for clock neophytes) a penalty other than loss of match for the 1st clock violation. --- i am a clock neophyte, but was taken advantage of by someone that knew the intricasies of the clock rules in an online tourney. (maybe 1st infraction a roll penalty, 2nd infraction game penalty, then 3rd match death.
that an experienced player would take advatage of another player by virtue of clock experience alone is galling to me. and NOT in the interest of increasing participation. afterall, if winning the tourney is more important than increasing participation --- i think you are shooting yourself in the foot. and i'd much rather see results based on play rather than clock experience.
