A "new" idea (?)

I agree with Neil in that I think it is totally unfair to the players who draw the known slow players in the first round or two and just have to live with it. Then the TD's finally put the slow players on a clock after they start retarding their portion of the bracket. Some of these guys should be put on a clock when they step off the plane -- maybe I seem harsh, but it's actually only a limited number of players that cause the vast majority of the problems.
I know several years ago in Houston we had one guy that was so consistently slow he was costing us in attendance because no one wanted to play him and no one wanted to sit around so long awaiting his matches. The director tried everything he could to encourage the guy to speed it up, but ultimately had to invite him not to come any longer.
I've seen 4-5 hour matches in Vegas in the Championship division and watched a portion of the Intermediate final 4-5 years ago in Vegas, which was won by a friend of mine from Austin, that took 7 hours to complete -- primarily the result of his opponent. With the extended schedule in Vegas it doesn't screw up the progression as much as with weekend tourneys; however, such occurrences are just outlandish and should not be allowed -- it takes a good deal of the fun out the game.
I also am particularly annoyed when someone is holding up an entire tournament and then takes the whole 2 or 2.5 hour dinner break. TD's should make them use at least some of that time to catch up. Every ABT venue sells food on premises or has some fast food close by.
