A "new" idea (?)

With the extended schedule in Vegas it doesn't screw up the progression as much as with weekend tourneys; however, such occurrences are just outlandish and should not be allowed -- it takes a good deal of the fun out the game.
Neil replies: Every Champ semi and final should be clocked PERIOD and to be honest at least every Inter Final should be clocked as well. I'd propose this as manditory for next ABT season and it will make sure that all directors have at least two or three clocks on hand !
(Bill)I also am particularly annoyed when someone is holding up an entire tournament and then takes the whole 2 or 2.5 hour dinner break. TD's should make them use at least some of that time to catch up. Every ABT venue sells food on premises or has some fast food close by.
Neil replies: Yep..you hit the nail on the head here. How annoying to see some players finish three rds on Saturday by dinner and one or two 2nd round matches still going at the dinner break. I've seen a director or two insist that they finish rd 2 by dinner, but most won't do that. I'm sorry if the delayed match screws up someone's social plans and they cannot join the fun dinner group since they have to play 30 minutes more BG..but oh well.. this is a BG event not a dinner club. It is unfortunate that a staff member has to miss dinner with the group to be around to monitor or to lock the room after the match, however. But to be honest, in any event I'd run, if your 2nd round match isn't almost done (noting rd 1 starts about 12:30) by 4 PM (5 PM dinner)..you'd get clocked instantly. Certainly by 4:30 any 2nd rd match must be clocked.
Neil continues: another annoying thing I've seen in regards to 5PM dinner break is players finishing their previous rd 2 match and then wandering off as early as 4:15 for dinner break. They could be using this time to start the next rd or perhaps start a master's or side event match if no main event opp is available. Now if they ended rd 2 at 4:45 PM..OK go to dinner. Even when I've finished 3 rds prior to dinner and there's no opp likely to be quickly available, and my side of the bracket is ahead of the other side, I'll still tell a staff member if I want to wander off much prior to 4:45. I'm certainly not perfect in not delaying the event but I try to do my best job of not contributing to delays as do quite a few other players. If all players realize when things are behind, they usually can find ways to have less delay and this makes for a more pleasent event for all.
