It's not so easy to do a survey AT a tournament.

Maybe not that difficult, upon reflection: ask when people register

... listen to a lot of venting. On third thought....

I don't know if it still does, but the Nordic Open used to distribute a survey to all players soliciting comments on what they liked about the tournament and what might be improved upon. Players who had comments usually turned the surveys in towards the end of the tournament, or sometimes sent (e)mailed comments later. The comments always proved helpful in planning future tournaments.

An ABT tournament could give all registering players a survey on clocks that they could turn in if they wished. No need to slow up registration with oral surveys, for instance, having to explain 64 times what exactly "clocks optional" and "clocks allowed" mean, which can be done on the survey.
