I didn't know GNU-bg even existed back when Muench was still alive.

Ignoring doubles by both sides, if Blue must use two rolls to get each checker off it's still 8 rolls vs. 8 rolls -- i.e. Blue a 60-ish favorite.

Double aces work better for White, but not as well as double sixes work for Blue. :)

Note that even with eight 2-1 rolls by Blue, s/he still wins as long as White doesn't throw doubles.

Here's another sequence to ponder: Blue rolls 5-3, White doublets, Blue 5-1, White doublets, Blue 4-1. White on roll after throwing his best on two straight rolls while Blue did quite a bit worse than average. No Redouble, Beaver.

I think a bigger question is: "what are White's cubeless game winning chances?"
