Oh you want all the work shown! Ok ...
Blue: 42 + (40-1) = 81 + (10*6 + 2) = 143
42 is is 2*20 + 2, or simply 42, for the two checkers on the 21 point. 40-1 is 3 checkers on the midpoint. 10*6 is the 10 checkers on the 4, 6 and 8 points, plus two pips because there's one more checker on the 8 point than on the 4 point.
White: (40+5) + (40-1) = 84 + 10 + 24 + 12 + 4*2 = 138
40+5 is two checkers on the 20 point plus 5 pips for where the back checkers really are. 40-1 is the mid again. 10 is the checker on the 10 point, 24 is three times the eight point, 12 is two times the 6 point, and 4*2 is mental shifting 1*2 + 3*2.
Start counting from the rear with the largest numbers and work around to the lowest. On the bar is 25 pips. The 20 point is what it is and lower points are 20+X. Checkers on the mid are 1*13 or 25+1 or 40-1 or 50+2 or 65 pips, and the 8 point is the eight point. Mental shifting, as above with the checkers on the 4, 6 and 8 points, is often handy. A checker on a point and a checker on its opposite point = 25 pips. A closed board using 12 checkers is 42 pips (and 42 is (mental shifting) 12 times 3.5 so it's also 6 times 7), and so a solid 5-point board with 10 checkers is either 30 pips or 40 pips.
