Ok, that stack is pretty big, so it is often (usually?) worth blotting to unstack it. Good point.
Nevertheless, this still brings up another point in favor of splitting the back checkers instead of advancing both, namely that white gets both a direct shot and an indirect shot.
Also, once the anchor is advanced 24/22(2), blue gets to play behind that anchor "forever" on awkward rolls, not just on the next roll.
Finally, I'd say that the advanced anchor is a lot less neccessary than usual in this position. It is awfully dangerous for blue to hit loose here, at least for a few moves.
P.S. I also just want to point out that I am in "possible explanation mode", as opposed to "of course this is what is going on mode".
