As far as video goes HDMI and DVI are functionally equivalent. HDMI as has been stated also carries audio, which for the purposes of a computer monitor is pretty much worthless. More important as per specs is if you want to use the monitor for protected path video output (e.g., playback of a blu-ray movie), in which case you would want a monitor that is HDCP capable.
