rummer1973 asks KenB: How about giving some support for this obtuse accusation. I am sure you have many different examples with which you will enlighten us.
A story in yesterday's newspaper -- "EPA Unlikely to Limit Perchlorate in Tap Water" -- reports that "the Environmental Protection Agency, under pressure from the White House and the Pentagon, is poised to rule as early as today that it will not set a drinking-water safety standard for perchlorate, a component of rocket fuel that has been linked to thyroid problems in pregnant women, newborns and young children across the nation," culminating "a six-year-old battle between career EPA scientists who advocate regulating the chemical and White House and Pentagon officials who oppose it."
If you're looking for more examples of how, "in recent years, scientists who work for and advise the federal government have seen their work manipulated, suppressed, distorted, while agencies have systematically limited public and policy maker access to critical scientific information," according to the Union of Concerned Scientists, that organization has a list here:
http://www.ucsusa.org/scientific_integrity/abuses_of_science/a-to-z-guide-to-political.html
If you're looking specifically for examples of interference in scientific work because of political considerations of religious beliefs, you should find several in the UCS's "A to Z Guide" under the issue area "Public Health."
