My interest excludes gaming/war/fanstasy. It is primarily rollouts although I will use the machine for emails and web browsing. It seems as though I may not need to go as high as $3,000 based on the input so far.

If you bought two computers for $500 apiece you would get far more bang for your buck than one computer at $3k. And either one would be well more than sufficient to do emails, web browsing, or whatever else you wanted.

Nehalem will probably not be out in the next few weeks, as they haven't set a firm release date yet. I would be thinking more like November or December.
