OS: your choice, $99
CPU: Core 2 Q6600 @2.4Ghz: $190
Mobo: DFI LP DK P45-T2RS: $170
X48 will get slightly higher speeds on overclocking, but P45 is less expensive, uses less power, and runs cooler. All in all I think P45 is the way to go and this will likely get the Q6600 to 3.0Ghz or higher.RAM: G.SKILL 4GB DDR2 800: $65
This is good RAM, I hear, and relatively cheap. I would need to look into whether it will keep up with the O/Cing, but I don't see why not.Video card: EVGA GeForce 8600 GT 256MB: $40
This is a solid video card if you're not doing gaming, and it will even handle some gaming. Vid cards are cheap these days. No onboard video with the DFI LP either.Hard drive: Western Digital WD6400AAKS 640GB: $70
Again, storage is cheap these days. For $40 you could get a 160GB, for $60 you could get a 250GB, for $70 you can have 640GB.Heatsink: Xigmatek HDT-S1283: $37
Optical: Samsung 22X DVD+/-RW: $25
Case: Antec Three Hundred: $55
PSU: Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU 500W: $40
This only has 13A and 14A on the 12V rail, but I think it can power this since it only has an 8600GT. This would be something to look into though.Monitor/Input devices/Etc.: whatever.
Total cost: $791.
I'll throw in a high-end build and a dream machine tomorrow, probably.
