This will happen.

I guarantee you that Mark, Alan, Stick, UBK, Bill Davis, et. al. have lost their fair share of matches (although UBK picked a particularly good time to get hot). Everyone notices their losses, because they like to win. But since you can't influence the dice--ethically--and you can influence your ER, just play your best game of backgammon and in the long run you'll win about as many games as you should.
