But I don't see any reason to believe that doublets are generally jokers. As to whether doublets are jokers more often than non-doublet jokers, I don't know.

I don't know either, but my gut tells me that (a) doubles are luckier on average and (b) more difficult to play on average. It's the price you pay. On average.
