Here's a good piece of advice that I think beginner's rarely heed: if you have any question about anything, don't hesitate to ask, and certainly don't hesitate to ask a tournament director.

Beginners often think that asking a TD is akin to a football coach throwing the red flag. It shouldn't be considered a *challenge* of something, rather a clarification.

Just as an example of a question I'm sure comes up in beginners sections. "You're supposed to play the higher number if you can only play one number." Let's say you don't know this rule, and your opponent informs you of it. Should you just accept that? No! Call the tournament director and ask. I'd say most players have good intentions, but in a beginners section, there will no doubt be misunderstandings of the rules.
