Playing on a tournament size board and getting used to the mechanics of checker movement is something to get used to. An early bird jackpot is good for this as well as for what Chuck and Barry indicated. You will also spend energy watching your opponent's moves and correcting unintentional misplays. Be prepared for long days and possibly 2-3 hour waits between your matches!

As far as your board goes - I played Kit Woolsey once on such a little Wal-Mart board at an ABT tournament. You never know.
