Just to add a comment: This past weekend the Norwegian championship was held. It was announced beforehand that all matches in the championship division would be clocked. Players in Norway are no more used to clocks than elsewhere, I think. There is normally no need for clocks on weekly club tournaments. Did it affect the attendance? Not the slightest it seemed (we were 48 in championship). The fact that clocks would be used was not discussed among players beforehand. Many (probably most) are not used to playing with clocks, several probably played with clocks for the first time. Getting used to the changed mechanics of the game takes only a few minutes. The only 'problem' with clocks was not knowing how to set some of them, and having to ask someone. The fact that everything was clocked was simply not an issue.

Point being: If enough clocks are available, putting clocks on all matches is really NOT A BIG DEAL.
