Advice for a virgin

Hi Daniel
After reviewing the posts I see there is on bit of advice not given yet. Be aware of what you eat.
Have a good breakfast. Reduce the carbs and the junk foods. Think brain food and true energy food. The same holds true for dinner or snacks.
Eating the wrong foods can bring you down without you realizing it. In turn your play will suffer as play goes into the late night hours.
Get your rest whenever you can. A new person to the events do not realize what a grind it really is to play all day Saturday and then Sunday when the money is on the line.
Rest and proper food will help to keep your mind straight.
Let me share a true story with you. A friend played in an ABT event several years ago. He played intermediate and did really well the first day. He was in position if he won the first match he was assured of cashing. Being doulbe elimination, he could lose 2 of the remaining 3 matches and cash. It was some years ago so I hope my memory on that is correct. Either way, here is what happened.
He ended play late Saturday after midnight. Instead of going to bed to get his rest as he should have, he decided to stay up and play in a $3 chouette. Going south quickly, he found himself staing in the game to get his money back. He was chasing something like 15 points to get even.
He was more concerned about a $45 loss around 1am then the possible $1,500 on the table for winning the event.
The next day he started play and you could tell he was tired and not sharp. Not only did he lose the first match, he did not even cash.
Get your rest and eat right.
