I agree with Ray. Backgammon is a mind game, not a physical contest, and the purpose of using clocks is to eliminate interminable cogitation, not to punish the infirm or disabled. Someone like Larry Liebster takes at least three seconds longer to roll the dice and move the checkers than the average player, so allowing him 2/15 instead of 2/12 would be fair in the spirit of the competition.
The PGA Tour/Casey Martin comparison is ridiculous, since golf is a physical contest. Tour golfers should not be allowed to use carts for the same reason I can't compete in the NY Marathon in my car.
