Is the above logically equivalent to "A player who exhausts his reserve time before he does validly claim the match is declared the loser" ? In the second phrasing Larry lost. But if he had a gin position it was one where he CAN claim the match. He just didn't do so. By the way has it been determined yet if it was in fact a gin position?
