Why Are TD's So Resistant?

The noise level will probably drop and maybe there will be a few complaints, but it's usually hardly critical to the outcome of a game. If someone interrupts you while you are trying to do a pip count that's one thing, but making general comments while someone is rolling the dice or playing an obvious move probably won't go away.
This should be considered part of the charm of backgammon (vs. chess), where we can engage our opponents in a friendly way. I don't say much during matches, but I'm fine with a little bit of chit chat, even in super important matches.
