VP's work well in bridge as they are primarily used for duplicate scoring in a team like environment. Their purpose is to demonstrate a comparable level of play for both teams vs other teams playing the exact same hands.

In BG, this will not work.

Example:

Player A scores a G on a 64cube in game 1 of series. Player B now has to play aggressively with the cube to win. Player A just passes all of B's cubes. Loses series 6-1, but wins 30 VP's by virtue of the net 122 money game points he accumulated.

In Bridge, this cant happen, as there are actual limits to the scoring, and you dont know what your running total is at the time. You are unable to manipulate.
