Clock Petition

The language which conveys a penalty for slow players can be altered. Even though it IS the main reason everyone wants clocks... If we want to soft pedal it, we can. [...] It makes sense not to make it sound punitive or whatever...
Seriously though, I just don't view clocks as punitive. Consider: I am probably slower than average players. Yet I will gladly play any match with a clock and will take into consideration whether clocks will be used or not when deciding whether to attend a tourney. If clocks are penalizing me, shouldn't I go out of my way to have less of my matches clocked?
Clocks IMO should just be part of the process, at least for ABT events where delays are common. It's not the language I was objecting to so much as the way of looking at it. Do cube decisions "penalize" weaker players?
This is problematic even in the "clocks optional" tourneys because when TDs clock matches infrequently as a way to "punish" slow players (sometimes halfway through a match), it just causes a whole mess of problems.
