An old approach for a new BG book

No doubt the BG books from the bot era are way better in terms of instruction than the books from the 70's and 80's, but there is something missing.

Back then, part of the approach of some authors was to convey the excitement of both $ and tournament BG play. Probably the best of those was Deyong's Playboy Book of Backgammon in which alternate chapters were about play, highlighting a season (I think maybe 1974 or 1975) of several worldwide tournaments which Deyong attended.

There are several European players and US players who could write such a book -- a combination of a season on the BG circuit, relating many occurences (not confined to BG) along the way, interspersed with positions that occurred and their solutions.

Of course back in the 70's it was a lot easier to make $ selling BG books than today. But I think it would be a great book and from what I've seen, the community (as small as it is) is ravenous for good books.
